Jack Allen is the president of Asia where he is responsible for customer relationships, business development, and project and product delivery in that region.
In addition, as President and CEO of Westinghouse Electric Japan KK, Mr. Allen is responsible for growing Westinghouse’s presence and expanding its businesses in Japan. He assumed this position in July 2009. And on July 1, 2010, Mr. Allen was appointed Chairman, Nuclear Fuel Industries, Ltd. (NFI), the sole Japan producer of both PWR and BWR nuclear fuel and related services. Westinghouse acquired 52% ownership of NFI in May 2009.
From May 2005 through June 2009, Mr. Allen was senior vice president, Operational Excellence, responsible for Customer 1st, the Westinghouse behavioral and operational change initiative focused on customer-centric continuous improvement in company operations.
Before the Customer 1st assignment, Mr. Allen was senior vice president, Nuclear Power Plants. He was responsible for the new plant business, satisfying valued customers in Korea and Japan while pursuing and establishing new plant market opportunities in the U.S., Japan, China and Europe. He assumed this position in December 2003.
From March 2001 through December 2003 Mr. Allen was head of operations, MOX (Mixed Oxide fuel), for the BNFL Sellafield facility in the United Kingdom. In this position, Mr. Allen helped commission and expand operations by providing valuable manufacturing expertise.
Before his position in Sellafield, Mr. Allen was vice president of U.S. Manufacturing for Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel. Mr. Allen was responsible for manufacturing operations of all the Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel plants in the United States. He also served for three years as plant manager for the Nuclear Fuel Columbia plant where he was responsible for overall site management, including fuel operations, customer and regulator interfaces and supplier management.
Mr. Allen successfully fulfilled management positions within Westinghouse from 1977 through 1997, including engineering design and technology, materials management, manufacturing management; welding engineering, and technical services management. He has more than 40 years of Westinghouse experience in the nuclear field.
Mr. Allen holds bachelor's and master's degrees in metallurgical and materials engineering and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
